A significant causal association between C-reactive protein levels and schizophrenia
Findings provided evidence for a causal association between elevated C-reactive protein levels and schizophrenia risk when we conducted a Mendelian randomization analysis. Our findings suggest that elevated C-reactive protein itself may be a causal risk factor for schizophrenia and lead to the hypothesis that medications that reduce C-reactive protein levels can be used in schizophrenia.
