Both acute loading (0.3g/kg sodium bicarbonate taken in five doses over 60 minutes) and chronic (0.4g/kg sodium bicarbonate taken for three days prior to testing in three daily doses, with no dose prior to the test) were able to benefit parameters of cardiovascular exercise in elite cyclists.
